Prescriptions

Prescriptions let you generate medical prescriptions for your patients. Each clinical record can have one prescription attached, with the medicines and the instructions for the patient.

Create a prescription

When you create or edit a clinical record, open the Prescription tab:

  1. In the RP field, write the medicines you prescribe to the patient. Include the medicine name, dose, and frequency.
  2. In the Instructions field, write the directions the patient must follow.
  3. Save the record to store the prescription.

Example

RP: Amoxicillin 500mg tablets Instructions: Take 1 tablet every 8 hours for 7 days, with food. Do not stop the treatment before you finish the 7 days.

Tip

You do not have to create a prescription at every visit. If the patient does not need medication, just leave the Prescription tab empty.

View a prescription

From the patient's list of clinical records:

  1. Click the record's actions menu.
  2. Choose View prescription.
  3. A view opens with the content of the prescription.

Generate the prescription PDF

You can download the prescription as a PDF document to print or send to the patient:

  1. From the record detail view, click the prescription's Download PDF button.
  2. The PDF is generated automatically with:
    • Your logo (if you have one configured).
    • Your letterhead with practice details (if you have one configured).
    • The patient's data.
    • The content of the prescription (RP and instructions).

Tip

Set up your logo and letterhead so your prescriptions have a professional look.

Enable or disable prescriptions

The prescriptions section can be enabled or disabled from the record schema settings. If you disable it, the "Prescription" tab will not appear when you create or edit records.
